Renovation - even if the work is being done by good builders - is hard work. It will be harder to do than you think.
There are, however, a few things you can do to make it a bit easier:-
If you using others, draw up a firm plan of action. Let the builders know exactly what you want doing and stick to your guns. Only use reputable tradesmen - get personal recommendations or at least use builders who are properly registered.
If you are doing the work yourself, dont take on too much work at once; if you are putting in windows, put in windows. Dont start repointing a wall at the same time! Do the work in the PROPER ORDER. There is no point whatsoever in painting a room before dealing with the damp, or putting in electrics before you repair the roof. Buy the best quality tools you can afford. A good tool makes a hard job much easier.
In either case, remember the old rule, "Measure twice, cut once". Have a good plan. And then rethink it all over again to see if it really is a good plan. Do a job carefully and safely. Don't compromise on safety. Eat plenty. Take plenty of rest.
Done properly, renovating can be fun. Dont badly - it can be a nightmare!
